Using LoopRez

This brings us to making the flexi skirt. The principle is simple. We are going to link together multiple copies of the skirt panel that we have just made.

Obviously, we can make the skirt manually. This would involve getting on a posing stand and arranging the flexi panels by hand around your waist. However, this process can be very labor-intensive.

The alternative is to use the SL scripting language to do the work for us! Many scripts are available for this purpose. I like to use LoopRez (courtesy of Ged Larsen; Looprez 0.6 is available grom Ged's blog - otherwise get it here).Ged has now vastly improved the script, but we have to pay for the new script. For more information, please see here. Natalia Zelmanov has a very nice description of the use of LoopRez on her blog.

I have made some changes to the LoopRez 0.6 script. The modified script is named LoopRez 0.6-01 and is available in the class material or from here. One of the main changes is that the script now reads data from a configuration notecard. Additionally, it is now voice-controlled and it also controls linking. I’m releasing this script as open source. Please do not sell the script. You are, of course, free to sell anything that you make using the script. Also, if there are any scripting gurus who can further improve the script, please send me the improvements so that we can agree on a version control system.

By the way, LoopRez is great for duplicating and then arranging any prim along a circular or elliptical path. For example, I have used it successfully to make simple jewelry (such as an arm band or necklace).
